Town of Fairview Park Minutes of the June 10, 2003 Meeting

  The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, David Crane and Norma Snedeker and Attorney Henry J. Antonini present.
  The minutes of the May meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Norma and seconded by David. The motion carried by voice vote.
  After reviewing the options for water rate increases, David made a motion to proceed with the 78% water rate increase as outlined in the report from Pat Callahan, CPA. The motion was seconded by Tonya and carried by voice vote.
  Janet Bettis voiced opposition to the rate increase and also questioned President Natalie concerning repair of her driveway. Larry advised her the driveway repair was between the contractor (B&T Excavating) and herself, but he would contact Eric Smith and request he contact B&T on Mrs. Bettis' behalf
  Leonard Akers advised that Cinergy had donated $100 to the flag fund and at this time the balance is $344.63.
  It was noted that the RV is still parked on Ellis's property and that 30 days would be up on June 12, 2003. Henry will send a letter advising them to vacate or the water would be turned off
  Larry read a bid for pavement of Cherry Street north of Second from White Construction for $7,580.00. After discussion a motion was made by Tonya and seconded by David to get bids on the other streets that need paved.
  Larry received a request for gravel in the alley south of 6th and Fulton. Sue will check and take care of
  Larry will continue to try to work out delivery of chemicals to the WWTP from Ulrich Chemical.
  Henry will write letters to property owners for several nuisance ordinance violations that were voiced at the meeting including: 1) property at 5th & Lincoln- outhouse with old mattress attracting rodents; 2) property 652 W. 2nd tarp on inground pool with standing water (mosquito problem); 3) property at 665 S. Davis, weeds, abandoned trailer; 4) property 730 E. 7th, septic tank with only a peg board covering (odor and dangerous); 5) property at 2nd and Towne, weeds and trash.
  Fire Chief Doug Curry requested that the Council appoint a person to serve on a board for emergency operations equipment. Teresa will check with Ramon to find out requirements.
  Tonya congratulated Resident and Fireman Neil Costello for receiving the Vermillion County Community Foundation volunteer of the year award.
  The Police Log was turned in for May.
  A motion was made by Tonya and seconded by Norma to pay the Town claims in the amount of $8,741.22, the wastewater claims of $20,261.58 and the Water department claims in the amount of $20,380.02. The motion carried by voice vote.
  The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. with a motion by Norma and seconded by Jim. The motion carried by voice vote.
