Minutes of the April 10, 2007 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, Norma Snedeker and David Crane and attorney Henry L. Antonini present.
The minutes of the March meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Tonya and seconded by Norma. The motion carried by voice vote.
David Crane complained of trash on the lot north of 461 Towne Street. John Newman will check on it.
Leonard Akers pointed out a typographical error in the water claims of the February minutes.
Larry Natalie questioned how the last meeting went with the church group/Wyres project. A short discussion followed. Sue questioned how water meters would be installed and how billed. Sue and Larry will meet with Willie Wyres to discuss his plans for water/sewage usage. It was also discussed to possibly meet with INDOT engineers about traffic flow in the area.
Sue complained of a bush at 4th and Davis blocking the view. The property owner refused to have the bush trimmed. She will check to see if the bush is in the right of way or on private property and go from there. Sue also advised that someone had cut the edges of the barricade by the Riggen residence and that Mr. Riggen had not done what was agreed upon.
Sue questioned if the town employees should fill pools. After discussion, a motion was made by Tonya and seconded by Norma that the town employees would fill pools at a charge of $150 plus the cost of the water with a minimum of 15,000 gallons and if a second trip is needed a charge of $50 would be applied. The motion carried by voice vote.
Leonard asked about mosquito spraying. Larry Beard's son-in-law will submit a quote for spraying.
David Crane complained of damage to new siding at 455 S Davis. Marshal Newman will talk with David.
Jim Moore advised the Fire Dept chicken BBQ dinner is April 28th and that they were trying to purchase a smokehouse from Parke County for $16,000 to be used for fire safety education.
John Newman advised the 1992 Chevy needs exhaust and engine work done. He was advised to get pricing for repair of the vehicle and to get pricing for a new car.
Sue advised the park restrooms need repaired or new fixtures and paint. Marshal Newman suggested locking the restrooms at night.
It was suggested that a letter be sent to Steve Polonsky re: scholarship recipients to paint and do work at the park.
A motion was made by Tonya and seconded by David to pay the Town claims in the amount of $7,686.72, the wastewater claims of $7,893.52 and the Water department claims in the amount of $11,198.17. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m. with a motion by Norma and seconded by David. The motion carried by voice vote.
