Minutes of the April 12, 2011 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Jim Snider, David Crane and Jim Moore and attorney Henry L. Antonini present. A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Jim Snider to accept the minutes of the March meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Sue talked with Mr. Roehm of White Construction for a quote to clean and place rip rap in the ditch on Plum. She has not received a quote yet.
Teresa advised that 8 foot plastic tables cost approximately $80 each. A motion was made by Jim Snider and seconded by David Crane to purchase 10 tables. The motion carried by voice vote. It was decided to donate the old tables to the Fire Department.
Butch advised that David Wright had been served a letter concerning the nuisance and that he was given 30 days to clean up the property. After the 30 days, tickets would be written with a fine of $100 each. Also after the 30 days, the court would be petitioned to determine if a violation exists and to allow the Town to clean up the property.
Jim Hall asked about the yield signs along SR 63. Sue advised that they have been installed.
David Crane advised that a manhole cover is missing behind Roberta Luce's property and that a water meter lid is cracked in front of his house. Sue will check.
Don Klinge advised that the back window in the old town hall is busted out. Sue will contact Professional Glass.
Joannie Doan asked about cleaning up the Ward Farrington property where a house had burned sometime ago. She was advised that the insurance had not allowed cleanup for quite awhile due to the nature of the fire. It was suggested that our attorney write the owner and ask that they donate the property to the Town. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by David to table the discussion and decision until the next meeting. The motion carried by voice vote.
Leonard Akers suggested that the Town purchase a laptop to use for searching ordinances during meetings. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by David to purchase a laptop. The motion carried by voice vote.
Leonard Akers showed the Council a bat house that he had purchased and suggested that the Town purchase and place them around Town to help with the mosquito problem. Larry will look into the matter.
A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by David to pay the Town claims in the amount of $10,788.79, the water department claims in the amount of $8,083.77 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $6,778.66. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. with a motion by David and seconded by Jim Snider. The motion carried by voice vote.
