Minutes of the April 10, 2012 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, Phyllis Lambert and Jim Moore and attorney Henry L. Antonini present. A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Tonya to accept the minutes of the March meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Teresa advised of 2 estimates received for the replacement of windows at the old town hall. Timberline construction estimated approximately $650 per window and Professional Paint and Glass estimated approximately $667.50 per window. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Tonya to have Professional Glass replace the 2 windows on the east side and wrap the exposed wood of the two windows on the north and west sides. The motion carried by voice vote.
Deputy Marshal Curtis Stoffel met with USDA rep. John Magee. He advised that the matching portion for police cars would be around 35-40%. Curtis will be working on the grant for an October submission.
Don Klinge advised that he has also been in contact with Mr. Magee. Don said from his research he felt the town would have a better chance of securing a grant if they expanded the fire department to include the police and apply for an emergency response building grant.
Jeff Gosnell questioned the status of his complaint. Larry advised that he had received a full report from the police department. He advised that the council had reviewed all documents at an executive meeting. Larry will talk with the Prosecutor for further information.
Leonard Akers advised he had an issue with the minutes whereby Teresa had a date wrong on the February minutes. He requested that the minutes be read aloud at the meeting to possibly element any errors. The council will take under advisement.
Jennifer Smith complained about the house at 2nd and Towne owned by Doug Waters. She advised that the house is falling in and a hazard. Larry Beard advised that the county would tear it down for $5,000. The Council would like to invite Mr. Waters to the next Council meeting.
Ms. Smith also complained about mini bikes speeding in her neighborhood. Brian Laney will check.
Don Klinge advised that the next chicken BBQ is April 28th. He also asked if the Council was interested in having a back up generator installed at no expense to the Town. The Council agreed to allow the placement.
Sue advised that they are ready to start spraying for mosquitoes.
Larry advised that a resident asked that the slides be checked at the park because one has a split in it. Sue will take care of it.
A complaint was received that a tree cut down on 4th is blocking the sidewalk. Sue will check. There was also a complaint about a trailer on Parke that has trash and abandoned dogs. Sue will send a letter to the owner.
The next meeting will be moved to May 9, 2012, due to the election.
A motion was made by Phyllis and seconded by Tonya to pay the Town claims in the amount of $21,105.21, the water department claims in the amount of $6,652.89 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $6,882.01. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m. with a motion by Tonya and seconded by Jim Moore. The motion carried by voice vote.
