Minutes of the April 8, 2014 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Tonya Smith, Phyllis Lambert and Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini was present. Council member Larry Natalie was absent. In the absence of President Larry Natalie, Jim Moore presided over the meeting. A motion was made by Tonya and seconded by Jim Hall to accept the minutes of the March meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Questions were asked if Council members were aware of problems with the WWTP and operator. Henry advised that these issues are of a pending nature and cannot be discussed at a public meeting at this time.
Questions were asked about the WWTP contract recently signed. Copies of said contract were given to any requesting it.
Nick Hall advised that 2 computers & CAD system have been installed in squad cars and he will be receiving training soon. All equipment was paid for by a grant and there is no cost to the Town. It was noted that most work done to the cars are done by the Marshal's department. It was noted that they are working on a plan to be able to answer the 832-5222 number more efficiently, but if no answer to call the Sheriff's department. Also in the works are updated SOP's for the department. Questions were raised about Fairview police assisted on a call in Lodi. Nick explained that he was the closest officer and that it involved a shooting. He could face civil liabilities if he did not respond to help.
Phyllis noted that property at 536 S. Kibby was in violation of the nuisance ordinance. Jim Moore advised the same about the property in the 400 block of S. Lincoln. Letters will be sent to the property owners.
Leonard Akers advised of residents of the leash law. Everyone was advised to contact law enforcement with any complaints.
Jim Hall complained of trains blocking 4th Street.
Don Klinge advised the Fire Department chicken BBQ will be April 26 and will be the only one held this year.
A motion was made by Phyllis and seconded by Tonya to pay the Town claims in the amount of$10,489.68, the water department claims in the amount of $lO,OOO.31 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $15,959.06. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 7:28 p.m. with a motion by Tonya and seconded by Phyllis. The motion carried by voice vote.
