Meeting Minutes for April 11, 2023

                               Minutes of the April 11th, 2023 Meeting

              The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday April 11th, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson and Jim Moore all present, Attorney Henry Antonini was absent. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to accept the minutes of the March meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
              Angie Riggen was present for the meeting and was able to give a update on the pickle ball courts, she stated that she had started a Go Fund Me account and currently there is $700.00 in there, the Apex grants opened for the spring season and she was able to apply and receive a $3000.00 grant from them for the courts and as of now she is $1800.00 from making her goal for the project. Tonya Cox made a motion to give the remaining amount of $1800.00 from the town to finish the project, Jim Moore seconded the motion, motion carried by voice vote. Tonya mentioned there was several limbs down in the park, Angie said the Junior Optimists from Ernie Pyle had reached out to her to volunteer and to see if there was anything they could do to help such as paint or clean up the park, Larry said, the town would greatly appreciate their help. Tonya asked about how long before the project will be complete and Angie said it will depend on when she gets the grant from Apex and can get on the schedule to get all the work done, but she feels it should be soon.
              Tonya asked about the trailer with the pool, Mike Ray said it is up to the board right now and wondered if the town needs to send another letter to the property owners advising them they need to get it cleaned up, Larry said he would have the pool checked to see if it’s holding water.
              Leonard Akers asked about the electric speed limit signs, Larry said he believes they have been ordered but will check with Curtis to make sure. Larry Wilson asked about the other signs for the town and Larry said they also have been ordered.
              Tom Luft mentioned the property across the street from his, he informed the board that the owner has been staying there from time to time in his pick-up truck and even though he is there on occasion he is not doing any clean up on the property from the fire, Tom said the wall on the north side is about ready to fall, Larry said he has spoken to Henry about drafting a letter to the property owner about getting it cleaned up, he also said he had spoken to Kim Hawkins about this and Kim informed him that the county has a fund they can use to get a dumpster there to use. There also were a couple of residents who live in the area of the Luft’s and this property who was present to show support to them over the problem with this property. Tom also wanted to thank Mike Ray for his help, about a month ago when he was driving home his truck had some mechanical problems and Mike followed him to make sure he got home safe.
              Larry asked Mike Ray if there are any issues going on in town and Mike said with it starting to get warmer out and people are staying out later at night it would be a wise idea to keep your vehicles and personal property locked up.
               A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to pay the towns claims in the amount of $63,122.39, the water department claims in the amount of $15,077.62, the wastewater claims in the amount of $60,572.84, and storm water in the amount of $2,346.34. The motion carried by voice vote.
              The meeting was adjourned at 7:20pm with a motion by Jim Hall and seconded by Tonya Cox, the motion carried by voice vote.
