                Minutes of the August 7, 2007 Special Meeting

  The Town Council held a special meeting on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, David Crane and Norma Snedeker present. Tonya Smith was absent.
  Information was received regarding whether the town or the Vermillion County Clerk should conduct the November election. After much discussion and questions answered, a motion was made by Norma and seconded by David to have the Vermillion County Clerk run the November election. The motion carried by voice vote.
  The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. with a motion by David and second by Norma. The motion carried by voice vote.

                Minutes of the August 14, 2007 Meeting

    The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, David Crane and Norma Snedeker and Attorney Henry J. Antonini present.
    The minutes of the July meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Norma and seconded by Tonya. The motion carried by voice vote.
    Resolution 2007-2, FINAL ACTION REGARDING RESOLUTION 2007-1 CONFIRMING A TEN YEAR REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT was read and a motion was made by Tonya and seconded by David to pass said resolution granting said abatement. The motion carried by voice vote.
    Teresa advised that she talked with Tony Avenatti concerning the lot next to the park. He advised that he was not interested in donating the lot, but would sell it for $16,000.
     It was advised that a citation was issued to the owner of the lot on Towne Street and that the Marshal is working on the paperwork for the prosecutor.
     John Newman II advised that he has written several tickets to engineers for blocking the railroad tracks. Henry suggested checking with INDOT, Rep. Grubb or Senator Skinner for other alternatives.
     A question was raised about a sewer bill. Larry will check with Sue & Mary Kay and get back with the complainant.
    Jim Moore advised that the Firemen's BBQ is set for August 25, 2007.
    Henry advised that the Democrat Convention to elect democrat town council candidates would be held Saturday August 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Town Hall.
    Shirley Thomas requested a second meter at 4th & Kibby. Sue has it scheduled to be installed on August 16th. Mrs. Thomas requested that the water pressure be checked at her home. It was advised that there are no water projects being considered at this time except the possibility of a new well.
    A motion was made by Jim and seconded by Tonya to pay the Town claims in the amount of $9,913.79, the wastewater claims of $5,983.61 and the Water department claims in the amount of $8,455.52. The motion carried by voice vote.
   The meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m. with a motion by David and seconded by Tonya. The motion carried by voice vote.

             Minutes of the August 30, 2007 Meeting

    The Town Council held the Budget Pre-Adoption Meeting on August 30, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Tonya Smith, David Crane and Norma Snedeker present. Larry Natalie was absent.
    The 2008 budget was reviewed and discussed. There was no public comment.
    The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. with a motion by David and seconded by Jim. The motion carried.
