                        Minutes of the August 10, 2010 Meeting



     The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Jim Snider, David Crane and Jim Moore and attorney henry L. Antonini present.
     A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Jim Moore to accept the minutes of the July meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Sue advised that she has checked with several people and cannot find a licensed
Category 8 operator for mosquito spraying, She will try to obtain a license herself this winter.
     It was advised that a state law became effective July 1 prohibiting texting while driving. Larry asked the Marshal his plans for patrol coverage once school starts. Marshal Garver advised that there would be lots of coverage during the day as 2 of the reserves are available.
     Letters will be sent to the owners of the Zucca property, David Wright and Christopher Tierney concerning high grass/weeds etc.
     Joe Summers complained about an old truck parked for over 3 years on the Reed property. Marshal Garver will check.
     Leonard Akers questioned the fence being removed around the ball park. Sue advised that the entire area, including the water wells and sewer plant would be fenced eventually.
     Butch advised that his new office is done, but needs to have the phone transferred there. Jim Moore questioned if the front window should be replaced for a cost of approximately $300.00. It was decided to proceed.
    Jim Moore advised that the Fire Department would hold their chicken BBQ on August 28th.
Larry informed everyone that Kristy Jerrell advised the Town had made it through the first round of the grant selection process and that it now depends on our need versus the other applicants. The grants will be awarded on September 24th.
     A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by David to pay the Town claims in the amount of $10,118.12, the water department claims in the amount of $7,325.96 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $7,628.73. The motion carried by voice vote.
     The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m. with a motion by David and seconded by Jim Moore. The motion carried by voice vote.
