                               Minutes of the August 9, 2011 Meeting


    The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. A moment of silence was observed in memory of deceased council member, David Crane. New council member, Phyllis Lambert was introduced. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Jim Snider, Phyllis Lambert and Jim Moore and attorney Henry L. Antonini present. A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Jim Snider to accept the minutes of the July meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
    Larry advised that the VCEDC approved a philanthropic donation to the Water project in the amount of $13,320.00. The grants will be awarded in December.
    Jim Moore advised that cleanup at Tierney's will begin tomorrow with 1 day per week spent there starting with the front of the property. Sue questioned charges for equipment. She will check the schedule used by FEMA.
    Willie Wyres has cleaned up the overgrown trees/brush on Pike Street.
    Butch advised that nothing new has transpired on the Wright property.
    The Farrington property has sold to Beverly's. A letter will be sent to them. Kanizer and Hines have not responded to their letters. The Town will cleanup next week.
    Sue advised that the ditch on Chestnut is done. She requests that the Marshal observe for anyone throwing grass or trash in the ditch and stop them.
    Mary Kay had a request from Justin Thomas to waive the remainder of the water bill on the Hinesley property. The Council advised that they had already waived the sewer fees and would not waive anymore.
    Teresa was advised to proceed with applying for NFIP membership application.
    2012 Budget meetings are scheduled for September 13th and October 11th.
    The metal rail by the ditch at 4th and Plum will be addressed when the ditch cleaned
within the next couple of weeks.
    Jennifer Smith complained of the Waters property at Second and Towne. She advised that the house is falling down and she has seen animals living in it. Larry, Sue and Butch will talk with him.
    A Parke County Deputy asked to have the yellow safety top from around the fence that had been around the ball field. The council advised that he could have it.
    A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Phyllis Lambert to pay the Town claims in the amount of $15,628.30, the water department claims in the amount of $9,892.35 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $8,813.89. The motion carried by voice vote.
    The meeting adjourned at 7:43 p.m. with a motion by Jim Snider and seconded by Jim Moore. The motion carried by voice vote.

                     Minutes of the August 17, 2011 Executive Meeting


        The Town Council held an executive meeting on August 17, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Phyllis Lambert and Jim Moore present. Council member Jim Snider was absent.
        The Council received information classified as confidential by state or federal statute. The governing body certifies that no subject matter was discussed in the executive session other than the subject matter specified in the public notice.
        The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. with a motion by Phyllis Lambert and seconded by Jim Hall. The motion carried by voice vote.
