Minutes of the February 12, 2008 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Janet Troglio, and David Crane present. Absent were Councilwoman Norma Snedeker and Attorney Henry L. Antonini.
The minutes of the January meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by David and seconded by Janet. The motion carried by voice vote.
Larry Beard, Vermillion County Health Department advised that the issue at 670 S. Kibby has been resolved.
Jim Moore advised that the Fire Department now has 20 members. They are still working with the cadet program with 2 current members. The insurance company is to send paperwork confirming coverage. Jim advised that they currently have 2 defibrillators with one being over 5 years old and having maintenance issues. A new one is needed. The estimated cost is approximately $11,000. He also advised that they needed 4 more sets of gear.
An INDOT letter was received advising that the railroad crossing at 4t streetwas missing signage and road markings. Sue will contact INDOT.
Questions were asked by resident Kenny Swann concerning the connection fee at property he recently purchased. Larry and Henry will look at the ordinance and advise.
Leonard Akers advised that federal grants are available and to check Rep. Ellsworth's website. He also advised there may be grants through the Wabash river corridor organization.
John Newman Jr. advised of a 1999 Dodge Interceptor with 40,000 miles for sale at $7,000. Further information will be checked.
Residents on north Washington Street requested that the Town remove the stump remaining from the recent storm. Nothing will be done at this time, but will be looked at when the weather clears.
Sue advised that problems are arising with the south well. Larry advised that they are waiting for reports from Pat Callahan and that he will check with Pat. Sue also advised that the Town could use a 1 1/2 ton truck for road usage. The council took it under advisement
A motion was made by Janet and seconded by David to pay the Town claims in the amount of $11,218.79, the wastewater claims of $6,529.04 and the Water department claims in the amount of $7,657.97. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. with a motion by David and seconded by Janet. The motion carried by voice vote.
