Minutes of the February 9th, 2016 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday February 9th, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, Phyllis Lambert, Jim Moore, and attorney Henry Antonini was all present. A motion was made by Tonya Smith and seconded by Phyllis Lambert to accept the minutes of the January meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Henry Antonini spoke about the town hall rental agreement, he said the new agreement would state, no sub-leasing, no glitter, must be 18 years of age to rent and if the renter was a home owner, proof of insurance and the rate would be amended to $75.00. Phyllis Lambert made the motion to accept the changes to the rental agreement Jim Moore seconded the motion. The motion carried by voice vote
Neal Costello updated the board on the fire dept. renovations, Neil said they have met with one contractor and had got two quotes for the lighting. The one amount they was quoted was $8700.00 and they feel this is too high, the dept. is going to look into getting the materials and doing some of the demolition themselves and they will check to see what the cost will be then.
Phyllis Lambert mentioned that another truck has been brought in on Kibby St. there had been three now there are four, the town marshal will look into this.
Michael Tindera and his daughter spoke to the board about using the tennis courts, Mr.Tindera asked for permission to use the courts for teaching the sport of tennis, he explained he wants to encourage 4, 5, 6, years old to learn the sport, and how he would go about getting the program up and running. He does not expect to have more than twenty students and he noted that Fairview is a safe location and most students could walk or ride their bikes to the courts. Henry advised him to get a schedule to the board so an ordinance could be issued for exclusive use of the courts for this program. Mr.Tindera said he will get more information and present it to the board at a later date. Tonya Smith made the motion to allow Mr. Tindera to use the courts for his tennis program and Phyllis Lambert seconded the motion with voice approval
A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Tonya Smith to pay the town claims in the amount of $10,175.06, the water department claims in the amount of $14,887.71 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $7312.08. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m. with a motion by Tonya Smith and seconded by Jim Moore. The motion carried by voice vote
