Minutes of the January 13, 2009 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Janet Troglio, David Crane and Jim Moore and Attorney Henry L. Antonini present.
The minutes of the December meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Jim Hall and seconded by Janet. The motion carried by voice vote.
Henry has questions into Pat Callahan concerning the revolving fund loan program for the water department and is working on the ordinance. He will also draft an ordinance concerning requirement of bonds being posted before any work can be done within the Town.
A motion was made by Janet and seconded by David to retain all Council positions and Town employees. The motion carried by voice vote.
A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by David to renew the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and Engineering Retainer contracts for 2009. The motion carried by voice vote.
A motion was made by David and seconded by Janet to renew the Fire Department contract for 2009. The motion carried by voice vote with Jim Moore abstaining.
Resolution 2009-1 was read in its entirety to transfer funds for the 2008 budget. A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by David to allow said transfers. The motion carried by voice vote.
Reserve Deputies, John Newman Jr. and Brad Lawhorn have been out more and advised that more people are out walking the streets and in cars.
Leonard Akers questioned whether the Town was interested in a new large consumption water customer and if so to contact the Economic Development Council. He also asked if the Council wanted representation on the Economic Development Council. Larry will check requirements for membership.
Sue advised that weather permitting they would be burning the brush pile on Jan. 20th.
A motion was made by David and seconded by Janet to pay the Town claims in the amount of $18,503.50, the water department claims in the amount of $9,250.57 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $6,529.18. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m. with a motion by David and seconded by Jim Moore. The motion carried by voice vote.
