Meeting Minutes for January 14, 2020

                           Minutes of the January 14th, 2020 Meeting


             The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday January 14th, 2020 at 7:00
p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with
council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and attorney
Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson
to accept the minutes of the December meeting and financial report. The motion carried by
voice vote
             First was appointments for 2020, Jim Moore made the motion to retain Larry Natalie as
president of the board, Larry Wilson seconded the motion, motion carried by voice vote. Tonya
Cox made the motion to retain Jim Hall as the Park Superintendent, Larry Wilson seconded the
motion, motion carried by voice vote. Tonya Cox made a motion to retain everyone in the same
positions of Attorney, Marshal, Office, Street, and Water employees, Engineering Firm and
Fire Department Contract as they were in 2019, Jim Moore seconded the motion, motion
carried by voice vote.
             Curtis gave the town marshal update, he started by giving the board a current list of
deputies for his department, the current roster was due to some personal changes he had made,
he spoke about a list of equipment needs he has and how he hopes to get as many of these items
donated, Curtis mentioned that later in the year he would like to look into getting a good used
police car, he also hopes to get some financial help with getting bullet proof vests for his
department and his department is in need of portable radios, he had several other items that he
is going to check prices on to see about getting for his department in the upcoming year, he also
spoke briefly about the different training that will be going on throughout the year.
Approval for a claim from HWC Engineering for professional services for storm water
utility, the claim was from Sept. 30th 2019 thru Oct. 27th 2019 in the amount of $9,243.75.
Tonya Cox made the motion to approve the claim, Jim Hall seconded the motion, motion
carried by voice vote
             Leonard Akers thanked the town workers for the removal of a very large limb that had
fallen in the area of his property and he gave the town permission to take the whole tree down
since it is a hazard, Larry said the town would look into taking the tree down. Leonard also
reminded the board of the acoustics in the town hall.
              A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Tonya Cox to pay the towns claims
in the amount of $43,357.45 the water department claims in the amount of $14,309.63 and the
wastewater claims in the amount of $6,499.25. The motion carried by voice vote.
              The meeting was adjourned at 7:20pm with a motion by Tonya Cox and seconded by
Jim Moore, The motion carried by voice vote.
