                                               Minutes of the July 11th, 2023 Meeting


              The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday July 11th, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to accept the minutes of the June meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
               Angie Riggen was unable to attend the meeting, Jim Hall was able to give a quick update on the pickle ball courts, he said the posts have been installed for the nets and that no completion date has been set yet.
              There was a discussion about the Deferred Compensation plan for the town’s employees, Attorney Henry Antonini told the board what he knew about the plan and the clerk/treasurer said she had spoken to a representative of the company about the deferred comp. plans and was told it would all be voluntary and up to the individual as to what plan which would be similar to a 401K they could choose and how much to invest, the representative also said he could send someone from the company to speak to the board about the benefits of the deferred compensation plans, Jim Moore made a motion to request someone from the company to come and speak to the board about the plans, Tonya Cox seconded the motion, motion carried by voice vote, a special meeting for the board will be set up for this discussion.
               Tonya mentioned the property on Lincoln St. she said she has noticed some clean-up to the property however there is a tent set up there, a neighbor to this property expressed several concerns about it, she said there has been three tents on the property, there have been threats made to her and other neighbors and the individuals dogs get loose often also they are constantly asking to borrow things. Curtis said the actual owner of the property has given permission to these individuals to stay on the property in regards to doing the clean-up, he also said that he has spoken to these people about the tents and that they are not allowed to stay in them in town, the neighbor stated that now they are staying and sleeping in their vehicles on the back part of the property. Curtis said he would go back to the property and speak to them again and he would also take a statement from her about all the issues and suggested that if the threats and trespassing continue to get a protective order from the court.
               Leonard Akers asked about a update on the electric speed limit signs, Curtis said he is going to speak to the representative of the sign company for a follow up on the order that has been submitted, Larry said due to the high cost of the sign only one was ordered he also said as far as the street signs go when a list is put together and we know what kind of signs are needed and how many we will get the posts and signs ordered.
               Tonya asked about the trees and limbs that are down in the park, Larry said they are currently working on them, he also said that there are other trees in the town that will need addressed, Jim Moore suggested that everyone check their areas for more damaged trees.
               Leonard Akers said the town employees did a fantastic job of cleaning up after the big storm, he also asked if residents could take their limbs to the towns dump site, Larry said that would not be a good idea it could lead to other trash being dumped there.
               A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to pay the towns claims in the amount of $14,760.41, the water department claims in the amount of $15,070.37, the wastewater claims in the amount of $7,235.99, and storm water in the amount of $2,346.34. The motion carried by voice vote.
               The meeting was adjourned at 7:40pm with a motion by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Hall, the motion carried by voice vote.
