Fairview Park, Town Council
Meeting Minutes for July 2024
Town of Fairview Park
Minutes of the July 9th, 2024 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday July 9th, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Moore to accept the minutes of the June meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Leonard Akers spoke about the town’s flag fund and its ordinance, he thinks the
amount that is put in the fund should be increased. Milisa explained that $300.00 is put in the general fund each year for flags if that amount is not spent it can be transferred to the flag fund for the coming year, however this past spring a large number of flags was ordered for the town and the full amount in the general fund and all but $60.00 in the flag fund was used to pay for them so there won’t be anything to carry over for next year but the number of flags that was ordered should carry us thru 2025. Milisa mentioned that donations can be made to the flag fund.
Leonard also mentioned that on Oct. 14th 2025 Microsoft will not be supporting the old versions of windows programs and the town should start thinking about computer upgrades.
Larry Wilson asked about the sign order, Milisa explained that the town’s signs come from two different companies, the named street signs come from one and the stop, yield and such come from another, the street signs are ready to be ordered and Sue will get the other order ready and sent out shortly.
Mike Ray spoke briefly about the Kent property and that it’s getting ready to be
cleaned up. James Williams said he has been pulling over golf carts and checking for permits, he said most of the golf carts he has pulled over does not have one so he is letting the residents know they must have a permit from the town for their golf cart to be out riding in Fairview.
Larry said the electronic speed limit sign that is on Ninth St. will be moved to Davis St. Tonya asked if it could be moved to Lincoln St by her residence when school starts this August.
A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Moore to pay the towns claims in the amount of $23,910.01, the water department claims in the amount of $20,414.97, the wastewater claims in the amount of $62,483.90, and storm water in the amount of $2,346.34. The motion carried by voice vote.
