Meeting Minutes for June 13, 2023

                    Minutes of the June 13th, 2023 Meeting

              The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday June 13th, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to accept the minutes of the May meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
              Angie Riggen was unable to attend the meeting, the clerk/treasurer was able to give a quick update on the pickle ball courts, as of right now we are on the list with the contractors and should be next in line to have work done, also she is looking into getting a sign to commemorate all the donors for their help and donations. Angie also would like to have a ribbon cutting ceremony when it’s all done.
              Chad Moore gave an update on his son’s gaga court that he was building for his scouts project, Chad said the work is done and it’s ready to use.
              Tonya said the trailer on Lincoln St. is looking a little better, the grass has been cut and there has been some clean up.
              Leonard Akers made a request that Tonya make her suggestion from the last meeting about repainting the curb at the park a motion. Tonya made the motion to repaint the curb at the park from yellow to white to allow parking and to remove the no parking sign, Jim Moore seconded the motion, motion carried by voice vote.
              Henry spoke about a Deferred Compensation Plan for the town he said it would be open to all employees, council members and attorney. Individuals would have the choice to pick what plan they would want he said there would be no brokerage fees but a small yearly fee for the town for the plan. Tonya made a request to table this to the next meeting to give the board time to look the plan over and ask the employees if any are interested.
              Mike Ray said he has been chasing down golf carts and 4-wheelers in town and informing the owners of the town’s ordinance on what is allowed and what needs to be registered with the town.
              Chad Moore mentioned the fire department purchased a new response vehicle for the department it’s a 2023 Chevy Tahoe and will be used for medical runs.
              Jim Hall said with all the improvements to the park there have been some repairs and painting done to some of the equipment, Larry suggested a winter project to build or repair the picnic tables that are at the shelter.
              Tom Luft spoke to the board about the property across the street from his, he gave the board a time line of all the incidents that have occurred on the property, he said the individual is still sleeping in his truck on the property most nights. Tom said he is starting to lose his patients and wants to know what can be done, Larry said that himself and Mike Ray went and spoke to the individual about sleeping in his truck there and was told that it’s not that often, Larry ask Henry what needs to be done now, Henry said the town needs to draft a letter to the property owner and inform him of the ordinances that he is violating. Tonya said something needs to be done this has been going on too long, there was some discussion about getting dumpsters from the county health department to start the clean-up process.
              Tonya said a resident contacted her about some bushes on the corner of Fourth & Fulton that need to be cut back, Tonya also ask about No Truck signs which Larry said would not be feasible. Larry mentioned that this coming school year there will be more traffic on the streets in town due to the changes made by the school corporation.
              Leonard Akers ask when the deadline was for the ARP fund money and was told its Dec. 31, 2024
              A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to pay the towns claims in the amount of $15,313.68, the water department claims in the amount of $14,864.90 the wastewater claims in the amount of $39,615.92, and storm water in the amount of $3,811.89. The motion carried by voice vote.
             The meeting was adjourned at 7:40pm with a motion by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Hall, the motion carried by voice vote.
