Town of Fairview Park Minutes
of the June 11th, 2024 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday June 11th, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to accept the minutes of the May meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Larry Natalie spoke about the Kent property at the top of the hill on Third St. and the ongoing court case, he said the judge ruled that on July 6th 2024 the town can go onto the property and clean it up. It’s the final chance for the property owner to get it cleaned and it must meet the town board’s approval for the clean-up not what the property owner thinks is clean, Larry said the town already has bids in place for the clean-up and that everyone did a good job on the stand and he is pleased with the ruling.
Larry Wilson asked if the signs for the town had been ordered yet, Larry Natalie said as soon as we get a list of the street signs that need replaced the order will be put in for them along with some stop, yield, children at play, road closed & men at work signs.
Jim Hall spoke about the possibility of lights for the pickle ball courts, he suggested we look into getting Duke Energy to put one up on the corner facing the park, Larry said right now in the summer months it’s not really needed but might look into it this fall.
Larry asked Mike Ray to check for properties with tall grass in excess of eight inches and give the owners a copy of our town ordinance and request them to get the issue with the grass taken care of.
Joe Right with Globe Life Insurance spoke about the insurance company and all it offers, he said it is similar to AFLAC but Globe Life will offer special deals on what it offers, he spoke briefly about what packages they offer and the coverage in them.
Mike Kelley asked to have an area taped off on Washington & Second St. because of a large limb that had fallen into some phone lines, the town cleaned up the street area but this is over the sidewalk and he is concerned it could fall before AT&T can get to it.
Larry mentioned that the Lions Club is having an open house on Saturday, June 15th and asked if another board member could attend since he will be out of town, Tonya said she would try to attend.
A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Hall to pay the towns claims in the amount of $12,834.05, the water department claims in the amount of $24,084.43, the wastewater claims in the amount of $11,567.06, and storm water in the amount of $2,346.34.
