Minutes of the March 13, 2001 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, and David Crane and Attorney Henry J. Antonini present.
The minutes of the February meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Jim and seconded by Tonya. The motion carried.
Eric Smith advised that Division A has completed Railroad and is now working on Jackson and Third Streets with a second crew working on Sixth St. The treatment plant construction has completed most of the underground concrete and piping. Erick presented 2 inspected and
approved pay requests for contractors.
Bowen Engineering requested 3 change orders: 1. Change grating and handrail t extended Aeration Tank deduct ($1,056.00) 2. Ductile Iron Pipe under parking area for storm drain. Add $675.00 and 3. Thickened slab at lab building add $603.00 for a net add $222.00. Eric advised that he had reviewed and the changes were adequate and in order. A motion was made by Tonya and seconded by David to allow the change orders. The motion carried by voice vote.
Eric will prepare standards for sewer connection. A meeting will be held to determine lateral sequencing installation. Eric addressed resident complaints concerning trees, blocking drives, phone line cuts, cutting corners and Fire Dept. notification of gas line breaks. Eric will get statutes from health department on property hook-up requirements.
Ordinance #2001-02, An Ordinance Regulation Delinquent Water Bills was read once in its entirety and once by title. A motion was made by Tonya and seconded by David to pass said ordinance. The motion carried by voice vote.
Henry will have the Fire Department ready for signing next month.
The Parke-Vermillion Humane Society advised that the County has picked up the tab for accepting our dogs and requested a donation. After discussion, a motion was made by Tonya and seconded by David to donate $500 to the Humane Society. The motion carried by voice vote.
The Police Log was turned in for February.
A motion was made by Jim and seconded by Tonya to pay the Town claims in the amount of $300,598.87, the wastewater claims of $1,030.71 and the Water Department claims in the amount of $14,227.41. The motion carried.
Resident Don Wallace questioned his water bill, Sue and Mary Kay will check on it.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m. with a motion by Tonya and seconded by David. The motion carried.
