                             Minutes of the May 14,2013 Meeting


         The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 7:00p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, and Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini
was present. Council member Phyllis Lambert was absent. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Tonya to accept the minutes of the April meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
       Eric Smith advised that the water project is on schedule. The IDEM permit has been received. Bids will be received on May the 23rd at 4:00. It appears that the project costs may be higher due to the electrical upgrade. Construction should begin mid June and finish in October.
      Wayne Bower from 7/70 Liquor presented some information on a proposed sign at Washington and SR 63. He has talked with INDOT and advised the Council may want to talk with their attorney concerning a contract for rent.
      Mr. Kirby on Chestnut St. has chickens and was advised of the ordinance prohibiting them. He advised that he had spoken with numerous people to find out if he could have them or not. After confusion on the wording of the ordinance, attorney Antonini clarified the meaning. Larry advised that we need to enforce the ordinance. Bobbi Scioldo also has chickens and was present. Both individuals asked for 30 days in which to find a place to move the chickens. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Tonya to allow them 30 days to remove the
chickens. The motion carried by voice vote.
      A complaint was received about dogs running loose on Second between Kibby and Plum. The Marshal has been: trying to catch said dogs.
      Leonard Akers asked that minutes be read aloud at every meeting.
     Sue advised that letters would be sent out on Monday on high grass complaints. She also advised about a visibility problem on Pike at Ninth Street where pallets are being loaded onto a tractor trailer. The Marshal will check.
     Don Klinge advised that the fire department BBQ did alright.
     A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Tonya to pay the Town claims in the amount of$11,198.86, the water department claims in the amount of$9,647.02 and the wastewater claims in the amount of$8,255.06. The motion carried by voice vote.
     The meeting adjourned at 7:59p.m. with a motion by Tonya and seconded by Jim Moore. The motion carried by voice vote.
