                      Minutes of the May 14th, 2024 Meeting


            The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday May 14th, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to accept the minutes of the April meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
             Leonard Akers asked when the new pickle ball courts were going to be dedicated Larry said he had spoken to Angie’s husband Dylan Riggen about getting something set up for that in the near future.
             Jim Hall gave a quick update on the town’s park, he said the restrooms are now open and they are in the process of painting the merry-go-round and just doing general maintaining of the park. Larry said he was still going over a quote for the possibility of having lights at the pickle ball courts. Jim mentioned the town employees are doing a good job keeping the grass cut at the park.
            Mike Kelley asked if there was any other options for getting the utility bills out to the residents other than the postal service, such as a computer system, Larry said no not yet but he did mention looking into getting new meters for the town which he said are quite expensive, he
has asked Eric Smith to help get the ball rolling by looking into what grants could be available for such a project.
             Mike Ray said he has been out doing more night patrols and he’s had several dog complaints in the last month, Larry said he had heard the Park/Vermillion Humane Society wasn’t taking in any dogs at this time, Mike said they are only taking in the dogs that law enforcement bring in to them.
             Larry asked Fire Chief Chad Moore about burning hours right now, Chad said it’s usually till 6:00pm but right now they are allowing it till dusk and are also allowing small contained campfires.
             A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Moore to pay the towns claims in the amount of $15,118.69, the water department claims in the amount of $25,262.12, the wastewater claims in the amount of $37,402.40, and storm water in the amount of $2,346.34. The motion carried by voice vote.
            The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 pm with a motion by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Hall, the motion carried by voice vote.
