The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Janet Troglio, David Crane and Norma Snedeker and Attorney Henry L. Antonini present. Council member Larry Natalie was absent. Jim Hall conducted the meeting in his absence.
The minutes of the October meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Norma and seconded by Janet. The motion carried by voice vote.
Sue advised that she had gotten calcium chloride in bags to mix with the sand, but she is still trying to get salt.
A letter was sent to DTE concerning the loud whistle blowing. No response has been received yet.
David advised of 2 nuisance complaints on Davis. Marshal Newman will look into them.
Sue has received complaints of work on the road at 7th and Davis that has not been completed after sewer hookup. Mr. Winegar advised he would pour concrete to correct the problem.
Stan Dugger informed the council of a program that Cayuga is using where the customer purchases a meter to be attached to an outdoor hydrant, allowing the use of water for filling pools and watering gardens without having to pay sewer rates. Larry has been looking into such a program and Mr. Dugger's information will be passed on to him.
Rick Royale asked that all sump pumps hooked into the sewer system be unhooked due to the high volume of water the plant receives during storms, causing more costs to the customers from wear and tear on the plant, and the use of more chemicals.
Leonard Akers advised of a meter lid off at 5th and Davis. Sue will check.
A motion was made by Norma and seconded by David to pay the Town claims in the amount of $9,604.08, the wastewater claims of $289,105.50 and the Water department claims in the amount of $10,540.51. The motion carried by voice vote.
