                 Minutes of the November 14th, 2023 Meeting

       The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday November 14th, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to accept the minutes of the October meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
      Jim Hall spoke briefly about the town’s park he said he had checked out the shelter and it looked in good and sound condition also he mentioned that new trash cans have been ordered for the park.
       Leonard Akers thanked the board for the new electronic speed sign, he said he hopes it makes a difference and suggested that the town marshal have a police car sit in the area, Curtis said his department is doing that throughout the day and also mentioned that the digital sign is very responsive and quite actuate. Larry said that the sign will be used all around the town and will be moved periodically.
       Mike Kelley asked if anything was found out about the old police car, Henry said that the original declaration of surplus still stands, Curtis asked if the other car that has been taken out of service could be added to that and Henry said no it would have to be declared surplus.
       Larry asked if the white police car could be sold now and Henry said bids could be taken for it. Mike Kelley mentioned the abandoned by him and Curtis said they would look into it.
       Attorney Scott Skillman who is representing Cody &Skyler Wright informed the board of a petition to vacate an alley on behalf of the Wright’s the location of the alley is 241 Plum St. Mr. Skillman said all the proper notifications will be made and he will have all the
paperwork ready by the next meeting to submit to the board .
       Leonard Akers asked about the nets on the pickle ball courts, if they should be taken down for the winter.
       Tom Luft spoke about the property across the street from his, he said some improvements have been made that three of the walls have been taken down Tonya asked if the property owner is still staying there, Tom said yes, three nights last week and he also has brought in a water tank. Tom thanked the board for what has been done so far.
       Larry asked Henry about a tree on Second St. that is not in the town’s right of way but is a hazard he wanted to know if the town would be liable if it fell, Henry said no the town wouldn’t be since the tree is on private property, Henry suggested to send a letter to the property owner stating the concerns about the tree and request it be taken down.
       A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Hall to pay the towns claims in the amount of $57,372.99, the water department claims in the amount of $34,548.94, the wastewater claims in the amount of $278,361.22, and storm water in the amount of $2,346.34.The motion carried by voice vote.
       The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm with a motion by Tonya Cox and seconded by
Jim Moore, the motion carried by voice vote.
