Minutes of the December 10, 2013 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, December 10,2013 at 7:00
p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Phyllis Lambert and Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini was present. Council member Tonya Smith was absent. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Phyllis to accept the minutes of the November meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
Burning Ordinance 2013-6 was read in its entirety and by title. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Jim Hall to suspend the rules. The motion carried by voice vote. A motion was made by Phyllis and seconded by Jim Hall to pass said ordinance. The motion carried by voice vote.
Leonard Akers asked about changing the council positions from wards to running at large. After much discussion it was decided to seek further information and opinions. A motion was made by Phyllis and seconded by Jim Hall to table any action on the abolishment of the council wards. The motion carried by voice vote. It was noted that sign up for running for any office is from January 8 to February 7.
Neil Costello advised that there was a problem with the furnace at the fire department and that it would probably need replaced next spring. He advised that the total cost would be approximately $2,000.
Don advised that he was re-elected as Fire Chief with Chad Moore as Assistant Chief/Treasurer, Neil Costello as Secretary and Brian Strohm as Captain.
Leonard asked if the County Clerk had replied on moving the pole in the parking lot. She has not at this time.
Don Klinge requested that any moneys left in the fire department appropriations at the end of the year be paid to the fire department. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Jim Hall to pay to the fire department any appropriation balances in the General and CCD funds to the fire department. The motion carried by voice vote.
Sue said that the water project construction should finish up the 2nd week in January.
A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Phyllis to approve two bonds for the Clerk-Treasurer. The motion carried by voice vote.
Salary Ordinance 2013-7 was read in its entirety and by tide. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Phyllis to pass said ordinance. The motion carried by voice vote.
A motion was made by Phyllis and seconded by Jim Moore to pay the Town claims in the amount of$36,165.33, the water department claims in the amount of $22, 733.47 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $16,678.95. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. with a motion by Phyllis and seconded by Jim
Hall. The motion carried by voice vote.
