                    Minutes of the February 14, 2006 Meeting

      The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Smith, David Crane and Norma Snedeker present. Attorney Henry Antonini was absent.
    The minutes of the January meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Tonya and seconded by Norma. The motion carried by voice vote.
     Teresa advised that both properties on Jackson Street had received notice from the Marshal that they were in violation of the Nuisance Ordinance. The next step would be for the Marshal to issue a citation, if the property has not been cleaned up. Larry will talk with John.
     Sue advised that the tree behind Shirley Thomas’ house has been removed.
     Jim Moore asked the status of the Town Hall acoustics. Teresa will attempt to contact the company again.
     Leonard Akers asked about moving the Cinergy poles. Teresa talked with Rick Burger from Cinergy. He advised that there was a possibility of the power service being changed to overhead, but the Town would still incur a cost of approximately $2,000-$3,000. He also advised that we could contact Bill Chaney for a written estimate. Larry will contact Rick Burger for further information.
    Jim Hall advised of a tree north of the firehouse that is a danger and in need of removal. He received a quote from Timberwolf of $575 to remove the tree and brush. A motion was made by David and seconded by Tonya to have Timberwolf remove the tree and brush. The motion carried by voice vote.
     The 2006 Wastewater Treatment Plant budget was presented to the Council. A motion was made by Tonya and seconded by Norma to accept the budget. The motion carried by voice vote.
     Larry Beard advised that the health Department had condemned the house on the N W comer of Third and Davis. He questioned whether the Town had any plans to remove the house. The Council will check with our attorney.
     Jim Hall advised he priced shingles to re-roof both shelter houses at the park. The cost would be around $1,000 and that Tim Cottrell had volunteered his labor for free. The Council advised him to proceed, using the donation from Eli Lilly.
Larry Beard volunteered his time to help solve the water problem across from the firehouse. This information will be passed on to Neil Costello, who is presently working on the problem.
     Jim Moore asked the Town to check on a rotten tree across from his residence on Davis Street. The Council will check. He also advised that the awning on the old Town Hall needed to be fixed or removed. The Council will check this also.
      Leonard Akers asked about the balance in the Flag Fund. Teresa advised after talking with State Board of Accounts, the account has been straightened out and has a balance of $879.90.
     A motion was made by Norma and seconded by Jim to pay the Town claims in the amount of $11,215.33, the wastewater claims of $7,189.32 and the Water department claims in the amount of $10,023.96. The motion carried by voice vote.
    The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. with a motion by Tonya and seconded by David. The motion carried by voice vote.
