                                Minutes of the June 10, 2008 Meeting

     The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Janet Troglio, David Crane and Norma Snedeker and Attorney Henry L. Antonini present.
     The minutes of the May meetings and financial report were approved with a motion by Norma and seconded by Janet. The motion carried by voice vote.
     Sue Crossley advised that the Town employees would not be filling pools this summer and that there would be no summer rate this year either.
     Jim Moore advised that the Fire Department was interested in moving the BBQ pits at the park. Council members and the Fire Department will look at locations.
     John Newman has had difficulties contacting land owners, but has taken photos of all the violation properties. Larry requested Henry to stream line the process. Henry and John will look at it. Larry would like to see the properties cleaned up before July 4th.
     Leonard Akers gave Larry Historic Landmark information.
     The lights have been moved from the ballpark. It was the Councils feelings that the ballpark be maintained as such and not to fence the property in. Jim will check the holes left by the removal of the light poles.
     Ordinance 2008-1 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SALARY ORDINANCE NO. 2007-4 was read once in its entirety and twice by title. A motion was made by Janet and seconded by Norma to pass said ordinance. The motion carried by voice vote.
     John Newman requested the Council to approve the appointment of Brad Lawhorn as a Reserve Deputy Marshal. A motion was made by Jim and seconded by David. The motion carried by voice vote.
     Leonard Akers suggested having sandbags and sand available to residents. Larry will talk with the Emergency Management Office. Sue Crossley advised that we have sand and bags.
     John Newman asked if the Council wanted to pursue the complaint of an individual that removed a manhole cover during the recent storm. Larry advised that the problem had been taken care of at the time.
     A motion was made by Norma and seconded by David to pay the Town claims in the amount of $8,994.02, the wastewater claims of $6,431.17 and the Water department claims in the amount of $20,562.07. The motion carried by voice vote.
     The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. with a motion by Janet and seconded by David. The motion carried by voice vote.
