Minutes of the March 10th, 2020 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday March 10th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members Jim Hall, Larry Natalie, Tonya Cox, Larry Wilson, Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini all present. A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson to accept the minutes of the February meeting and financial report. The motion carried by voice vote.
The town marshal was unable to attend the meeting and give his marshal update.
Next up was the sealed bids for the sale of the surplus property at 380 S. Jackson St. the first sealed bid was from Wyres Investment Properties in the amount of $4,456.00, the second sealed bid was from Cottrell Properties LLC in the amount of $4,001.00. Tonya Cox made the motion to accept the bid from Wyres Investment Properties in the amount of $4,456.00, Jim Moore seconded the motion, motion carried by voice vote.
Tonya asked about the town’s golf cart ordinance, she would like to see the carts be allowed for other things besides just going to and from the golf course, Tonya asked Henry to look into the ordinance and possibly draw up an ordinance similar to the one that the City of Clinton has but for golf carts only, Henry said it will not be as easy as it seems but he will look into it for the town.
Mike Kelley asked about the deputies for the town, he wanted to know if they turn in the hours they are out patrolling for the town, Larry said yes they do and he usually get a verbal response on what they have done.
Tonya ask if the ruts on Park & Town streets have been taken care of, Sue said yes they are working on them now and also Rail Road St. has been taken care of. Jim Hall mentioned a tree on First & Jackson St. that is leaning bad, he is afraid if we have a big wind the tree could fall, the board asked Sue to get some estimates on the removal of the tree.
Dean Strohm presented the board with an invitation to participate in a Park Walk that he is trying to get started in the City of Clinton it will be a 6.4 mile walk thru Clinton, he presented a map of locations for the walk and asked if the town would like to add our park to the list, after some discussion Tonya Cox made the motion to allow our park and town to be added to the map for the Park Walk, Larry Wilson seconded the motion, motion carried by voice vote
Resident Tom Luft spoke to the board about some issues he has with three properties in the area of west Third St. he mentioned old cars and trash that needs to be cleaned up. Larry said he knows about these properties and the problems with them and that he had just recently spoken to Henry and Curtis about them. Tom said he would appreciate any help from the town.
A motion was made by Tonya Cox and seconded by Jim Hall to pay the towns claims in the amount of $10,098.09 the water department claims in the amount of $9,162.27 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $16,975.65. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm with a motion by Tonya Cox and seconded by Larry Wilson, The motion carried by voice vote.
