Minutes of the May 13, 2014 Meeting
The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 13,2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building, The Pledge to the Flag was recited, Roll call was taken with council members Jim'Hall, Larry Natalie, Tanya Smith, Phyllis Lambert and Jim Moore and Attorney Henry Antonini was present. A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Tanya to accept the minutes of the April meeting and financial report, The motion carried by voice vote.
A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Phyllis to treat the alleys with calcium chloride to cut down on dust. The motion carried by voice vote.
A motion was made by Jim Moore and seconded by Phyllis to spray for mosquitos over the summer. TIle motion carried by voice vote
Mike Kelley asked how the WWTP was going. Larry advised that the inspection of the plant went well and that the plant is now in good shape. He did advise that after meeting with IDEM the fine imposed has been reduced to $860.00
Willy & Debbie Thomas complained about the condition of the Tierney property. There is junk, weeds and car parts all about. The Marshal will check to see ifvehicles are operational and Jim Moore will check into the junk/weeds and report back at the next meeting.
Eric Smith, Scott Craig and others attended an economic development presentation advising that there is money available to clean-up and tear down abandoned property.
Don Klinge advised that a tree at r: & Washington appears rotten. Sue will check. He also advised that the department is conducting a photography fund raiser for new air packs.
Steve & Nicholas Reed informed the Council that they plan to open a new business. Shots and Shells LLC, at 351 South Davis. The business will sell guns and ammunition, but have no live range They advised they have talked with all the neighbors and have received no negative responses. A motion was made by Tanya and seconded by Phyllis to support the opening of Shots and Shells. The motion carried by voice vote.
Curtis Stoffel thanked Mike Kelley for hauling off the trees/brush.
Tom Gosnell asked the Council to relieve Officer Nick Hall of his duties because of his alleged atrocious behavior and asked that his request be made a part of the minutes, He also advised that this concerned the case of his step-son He advised that he had confronted Mr Zucca on the matter. Marshal Mike Strader advised that Nick Hall was one of the best officers that he had and that he could not comment further as the case in point 1S still under investigation.
A motion was made by Jim Hall and seconded by Tanya to pay the Town claims in the amount of $10,999.20, the water department claims in the amount of $11,662. 77 and the wastewater claims in the amount of $15,429.00. The motion carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m. with a motion by Phyllis and seconded by Tanya. The motion carried by voice vote.
