             Minutes of the October 14, 2008 Meeting
           The Town Council held their regular meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The Pledge to the Flag was recited. Roll call was taken with council members James Hall, Larry Natalie, Janet Troglio, David Crane and Norma Snedeker and Attorney Henry L. Antonini present.
            The minutes of the September meeting and financial report were approved with a motion by Norma and seconded by David. The motion carried by voice vote.
            Resolution 2008-2, a RESOLUTION TO REDUCE CURRENT YEAR'S APPROPRIATIONS (LINE 2), was read and a motion was made by Jim and seconded by Janet to pass said resolution. The motion carried by voice vote.
            Leonard Akers suggested Trick or Treating be allowed one night only. The Council agreed.
            John Newman advised that the neighborhood watch meetings had dwindled to 1 to 2 people. He would be willing to start the meetings again if interest is shown. He advised that they do have suspects in the recent thefts. John also requested the Council consider adding stop signs on Lincoln and Davis. The Council will take it under advisement.
           Mike Kelley complained of DTE blowing horns all night long. A letter will be sent asking them to discontinue the practice.
            Sue advised that there is no road salt available to purchase and that the State and County supplies had been cut in half. She is looking into other alternatives as an additive to the sand to keep it from freezing. She also advised that the water tower at 2"d and Cherry has been repaired, repainted and passed all tests.
             Phil Bennett advised that the Fire Department is conducting a picture taking fund raiser. The firehouse will be open on Halloween night with candy etc... available.
            Jim Hall presented estimates from Lubovich Excavating for drainage work at 3rd and Washington. The northeast corner estimate is $2,535.00 and the southeast corner estimate is $2,700.00. Larry Beard suggested that the Council request assistance from the Vermillion County Drainage Board with the problem. Larry will attend the next meeting.
           A motion was made by Janet and seconded by Norma to pay the Town claims in the amount of $12,105.82, the wastewater claims of $12,324.74 and the Water department claims in the amount of $41,074.44. The motion carried by voice vote.
           The meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m. with a motion by David and seconded by Janet. The motion carried by voice vote.
